Interactive! 7 Things For 7 Days! || October

Hello There!

September has flown by, and already this school year feels like a blur. Last month I said I was excited to put on chunky sweaters and boots and no such thing has happened dagnabit! I am sick of the warm weather and am ready to be cold and cozy. Stop it, California, stop it. Anywho, today I thought I would start another month by telling you all how I failed during September.

HERE'S the blog post to join in the fun!

Stay De-stressed:: I predicted that I would be stressed this year, and I was right. I bit off just a little bit more than I could chew, and it's showing. I am already feeling the fatigue after six weeks of school.

No Sweats:: I wore sweats. Once. And it was amazing. I tried my best not to wear sweats, and in my defense I had gotten very little sleep and they were yoga leggings. Now that the school year is in full swing, I will be wearing yoga pants and yoga leggings a lot more. I should not have made this my goal, because it was just silly and I knew at some point I would do it anyway. I digress.

More natural makeup:: I have been wearing more natural makeup! Even if I am wearing foundation, concealer, and powder, my eye makeup is simple and my lip color is too. Also, I sometimes wear just concelaer and powder if I feel like I only need a little coverage that day or if I am in a rush.

Lots more sleep:: I got no sleep the day before school while scrambling to finish homework. I'm not a procrastinator, I swear! Each night I have been going to sleep around 11:00pm, give or take. So I have promised myself to get more rest, because the amount of sleep I get totally affects my mood.

Blog every day:: I told you not to hold me to it! I have not been blogging every day because of the above, so I apologize. I know for me it's fun to check back with blogs daily to see what other people are doing, and blogging has also become a part of my life that I really enjoy. I wish I had more time for this hobby, and I can assure you you will be seeing more of me, even if it is not everyday.

Use my day:: I have been using each minute of my day. I have been getting up at nine, getting things done, and working hard. I feel very accomplished!

Keep my room clean:: Argh! I have not been doing this either! I have been putting away clothes every weekend, but during the week I feel like an absolute pig. From now on I will do my best to make sure my clothes do not get crumply.

~ Success: 3/7 ~

October Goals:

Prioritize:: When I have a load of homework, I sometimes finish the things that are easy or fun first and the boring and long things last, when in fact I should be doing it in the other order. So this month I am just going to get down to the boring stuff that needs to be done so I don't stay up all night finishing things that should have been done earlier. This is the easiest way to get more sleep, and I need to stop letting it all get away from me, which leads me to my next point:

Manage My Time:: I tend to let my mind go other places when I need to get boring things done, so this month I am going to try my best to finish my homework as quickly as possible without doing anything else so that I can get to bed and feel better the next day.

5 Minute Makeup:: While I love doing my makeup, I sometimes spend ages on my makeup, and then I am stressed to finish getting ready in the morning. So during October I would love to be able to finish my makeup for school, foundation to lipstick, in 5 to 10 minutes.

Stop Buying:: I have spent what feels like millions of dollars on makeup and nail polish. Boy have I bought nail polish. So during October I am putting a "No Nail Polish" ban on myself. Soon you will see a haul on all the nail polish and girly things I have bought on my Youtube channel here, so after that I must not let myself walk into a CVS without a list of what I need or having only one thing to get.

Blog All Weekend:: Because my goal of blogging all week was a fail, during October I would like to at least be able to blog during the weekend and upload a video once a week too. If I don't I will end up not uploading or blogging at all, so I have to force myself to sit down and blog or film (woe is me-haha!) so I can produce beauty-related things for you all.

Be Nice:: Finally, I want to be nice this month. The last month or two has been extremely stressful, and I have been taking out my anger and frustration on family members and friends. So this month I would like to be kind to the people I love, and use the 10 second rule before I speak.

I was not victorious this month either, and I am starting to think these blog posts are just a way to lower my self esteem. Yikes! Anywho, I think in the future I will make smaller, more simple goals that can be easily accomplished on top of school work and the other millions of things I have to do in my daily life.

What things are you trying to accomplish this month?

When Life Gets Rough- Part 2

Hello There!

Today is part two of a self help-y blog post. I know for me these types of posts are always helpful, so there must be someone out there that finds them just as helpful as I do! So I thought I would share some ways that help me get over the little and big bumps. Yes, some days it feels like nothing will make a situation better, but getting the bad, sad, mad bug out of your head will make the day about ten times easier. Here are my tips and tricks:

Breathe:

If something is bothering you, making you angry, or just plain frustrating, taking a deep breath and relaxing can make all the difference. Let the problems roll off your shoulders, and don't let them get you worked up. Sometimes this can seem ridiculously hard, almost impossible, but that is what makes breathing refreshing and relaxing. Even if you are having a conversation with someone and you find yourself getting worked up, taking a second to breathe. Breathing can let you reflect on the situation and compose yourself and your thoughts, and can help make problem solving easier, and a difficult person or situation easier to deal with. If you can't do any of the things I am about to list, try this. It can't hurt!

Scream and shout:

Don't let out your frustration in front of other people; in my "experience" you end up looking weak and wimpy, so just do this at home. But if you are communicating with someone via text message or email, and you find yourself slamming your fingers on the keyboard, let it out!  Getting worked up is easy to do, so take a minute to calm down and reflect on why you are angry. I always have to give myself a good five minutes to be angry, and then I'm okay. Also, you don't have to always respond right away to a message, so take your time! There is no rush to reply to someone's text or email, especially if they are mean or rude, so let them sweat a little before you give them an answer.

Throw Things Around:

If you can't scream, throw things around. Just make sure they are pillows or stuffed animals, so there won't be any damage. I don't want to be held responsible! I know this may seem violent, but I know I have those days when every little things angers me throwing things around and shouting at the top of my lungs is helpful and exhilarating. Letting out the anger on an inanimate object makes sure you won't take out the anger on someone who does not deserve it.

Vent:

If you find shouting and throwing around to be too violent, then ask a friend or family member if you can vent to them. Even telling someone about your day and just having them listen without giving input can be like writing in a journal. I would recommend writing in a journal too, but I talk more about that here. All three of the above options are alternatives to crying it out, which I am sure you could integrate with any of these ideas. Bottling in one's emotions is painful, and can lead to an explosion of unnecessary anger. Just make sure the person you are venting to has nothing to do with the situation or drama you are talking about, because gossip spreads like wildfire, and it will ALWAYS come back to bite you in the bum! Be careful!

Take The High Road:

If someone is begin mean or hurtful, the worst thing you can do is stoop to their level. Should the situation become serious and go to an authority, you will look like the bigger person for not begin mean or hurtful in any way. Let them let it out, because sometimes people get angry at you because they don't have an outlet for stress or anger. If they don't, send them to this blog post! Just know not to take someone's anger personally unless they are being directly mean to you. Understand the fine line between the cold shoulder and being cruel.

Walk Away:

If someone is being mean, being just as mean is easy to do when you don't have time to think about what you are going to say. So if the right words are not coming to your head, and you think anything you will say will backfire, walking away is the best option and will make you the better person. Don't let people pull you into arguments; you always have the right to end a conversation and walk away from a fight, especially if the argument is in front of a lot of people. If you walk away, go into a bathroom and cry it out, or go to a counselor, the principal, or a friend and spill! It sounds silly, but retelling every detail can be helpful to you and the administration too.

Mantras:

I have a mantra that I say to myself everyday, so try finding one for yourself that applies to the situation you are in or something you are trying to improve in your life. Mine is "Don't sweat the small stuff, and it's all small stuff." I talked about this quote here. It reminds me not to overreact, and to be calm and remember that half of the petty high school drama and the silly assignments won't matter in a decade or two!

I hope this was helpful to those who are stuck in a tricky situation, or who are having a rubbish day/week/month/year. It does get better, and don't let anyone ever tell you otherwise. Waiting it out only builds character and makes you stronger, and will benefit you in the long run, I promise!

What mantras do you tell yourself?

Rainbow Leaves- Fall Is Here!

Hello There!

Today I thought I would talk about the elephant in the room: summer is ending, and fall colors and trends are popping up everywhere. While it is not quite obvious yet that it is fall ( I am on the way to the beach as we speak ) you can feel a new season setting in. In fact, tomorrow is the first day of fall! So to take my mind off the fact that it will be a good 9 months before I celebrate the end of another school year, I thought I would share some things that make me excited for the colder seasons.

Rainbow Leaves:: When fall and winter rolls around, I love to see the leaves change color. I think it is what makes fall one of the most beautiful times of year. I have never heard a poet write about the leaves in spring, or an artist get inspired by the colors of summer.

Fall Nail Color: As much as I love to wear fun, bright colors on my nails during the summer, I look forward to wearing deep, vampy colors like a burgundy or navy blue. The great thing about dark colors is that if the polish stains, you can just paint your nails with a dark color to cover it up! Problem solved!

Boots: Boots fix everything. They make any outfit look chic and sophisticated, while keeping you warm too! While Uggs are comfy, I find they can sometimes look sloppy, so this year I would love to get a sleek pair of black riding boots. Do you have any pairs you would recommend?

Scarves: While I wear scarves year round, I have more fall-ish scarves, and it makes me excited to throw them on to stay cozy in the cold weather. A comfy sweater, skinnies, and boots could only be better with a patterned or colorful scarf that makes the outfit look more put together. *Hint: Urban Oufitters always has cute scarves in their clearance section. I once got a scarf for $10.00!*

Cold Weather: I know some like the sun, but I personally love the cold weather. I find it easier to dress for cold weather rather than warm weather. Big jumpers and fall colors just makes me darn excited! I miss coming home from school and throwing on some fuzzy socks and sipping some warm tea. Do you miss fall?

I hope you enjoyed this fun "warm and fuzzy" post! I am so excited for it to get cold again! Throughout the months I plan to talk about more things I am loving, like "current favorites" videos, and fall trends too. Are you as excited as I am? Eeek!

What do you love about fall? Scarves? Sweaters? Tea?

An ULTA Excursion!

Hello There!

Today I thought I would share some Butter London polishes that I picked up when they were having their buy one get one free sale at ULTA. I also picked up some Real Techniques brushes, which I have already used, but I am most excited for the polishes. I picked up four, but I would never pay $14.00 for a polish! However, I could handle getting 4 polishes for less than the price of OPI. What a steal! When I got to ULTA the shelves had been swiped (something about extra from a backorder?), so I had little to chose from, but I still found some colors I wanted and some that I was pleasantly surprised by. I won't swatch them but I have used a few so hopefully the pictures and my descriptions can give you an idea of what they look like.

I have been wanting to try Real Techniques brushes for a while, and they are great! They are so soft and blend products beautifully. I got them in a BOGO sale, so they were inexpensive. Plus, this line was created by Samantha Chapman, also known as Pixiwoo, who is a makeup artist on Youtube, so they must be good!

The first brush I picked up was the expert face brush. I love this for contouring with powder or cream bronzers. There were few brushes to choose from when I got to ULTA, so I probably would have chosen another brush. However, I still love it, because your can get a precise contour with the very tip of the brush and then blend it out with the "fluffy bit"(the technical term!). RP: 9.00

This stippling brush is absolutely fantastic. It's more dense and generally shorter than the average stippling brush, so it gives an airbrushed finish and good coverage too. Sometimes I find a stippling brush gives too sheer of coverage, and I prefer a medium to full coverage base for my makeup. It is fast becoming one of my favorite foundation brushes. I would defiantly recommend it, because it gives good coverage but not as heavy as the average foundation brush, and not as light as a stippling brush. RP: 8.00

Although I was pleased to find some lovely Real Techniques brushes, I was most excited to get Butter London polishes for "Buy 1 Get 1 Free!" When I got there, I was disappointed to find that the shelves had been swiped, and few polishes remained. I even had to fight some nail polish fanatics for the colors I got!  I really wanted "Disco Biscuit" and "Knackered," but they were not available. However, I found some colors I had wanted, and some colors that I had never even heard of. I do not have colors like these, and I have not seen colors like these in shops either. While they are expensive, they are all unique. Here are the four I got:

Trout Pout:

This color is one of the more famous colors form Butter London, and I can see why. It's lovely! It's more of a summer color, unlike the other three polishes I purchased. It's a neon salmon color, and I prefer it to other neon polishes because sometimes I find they can look slightly trashy. However, this color is fun yet still classy! I wish I had gotten this color earlier, because I am sure this would have been one of my favorite summer shades.

Wallis:

Out of all the Butter London shades, I think this is the most popular color. It is a black polish with moss green and gold finely-milled glitter. It's gorgeous! If you buy this color, and you put it on and find it looks rubbish, I would recommend applying 3-4 coats to get an opaque color. The first coat will look like a sheer grey color, the second coat will look like a more opaque grey color, and the third coat will look like an opaque grey color with glitter. But by the fourth coat you will have an opaque black color with gorgeous green and gold glitter. Be patient, it's worth it!

Trustafarian:

I had never heard of this color, and I just love it! There are two ways of wearing it: as an opaque color after applying about 3-4 coats, or as a finely-milled glitter topcoat on top of a black or dark green nail polish. Either way it is really pretty! The color is a sea foam green, a shade I have not seen a lot in stores, so I had to pick it up.

Shag:

If this polish had only been a few dollars, I would have picked it up just for its name. If you are from America and you do not know what this means, then look it up! However, this is a twist on the classic bronze, because I would describe it as a black polish with a lot of red-bronze finely-milled glitter. However, when you apply it to your nails it just looks like a dark bronze color. In both "Shag" and "Trustafarian" there are a lot of glitter, so it only takes a coat or two to completely cover your nail with glitter.

Overall, I love the brushes and polishes I purchased. They are all great quality products. I may review the Butter London polishes in the future and, if I pick up some more Real Techniques brushes, I may review those as well. My total was $42.00 which, for two brushes and four nail polishes, is a complete bargain! When there is another major sale at ULTA, I will defiantly pick up some more polishes.

Did you pick up anything from the ULTA sale?

4 Season Scents!

Hello There!

No, I have not dropped off the face of the earth. I have just busy so busy with school that I left all of you behind! Apologies. Anywho, today I thought I would talk about some swish scents. Picking a perfume to wear between summer and fall can be a bit tricky (oh first world problems!), so I thought I'd share some of my favorites. They are great all year round, because they all have a warm sweet scent that is warm enough for fall and winter but sweet and citrus-y enough for summer and spring. They cover just about very price point, and are great value for money, so even a splurge can still feel like a great bargain! I have three to show, so "on with the show!" (name that You tuber!)*

This is the most expensive of all the scents, coming in at $78.00. It now comes in a cool tall bottle now, but I have the old one. When I smell this scent, I think of autumn and winter time. It has a sultry, musky scent, and according to the website it has notes of orange flower, fresh ginger, and honey-sandlawood accents. How fancy! I have the Eau de Parfum, so it lasts all day. One of my favorite types of smells is the citrus-y kind, because it can be mixed with floral and sweet notes for a fresh summer scent or with musky and warm notes for a more cozy scent. This is more of a grown-up perfume, so I try to reserve it for a special occasion. While it is a bit pricey, it comes in three sizes, so here you can get a small bottle to test out and not spend too much.

For me, this was even more than a splurge than the Armani perfume, just because it was an expensive body mist, coming in at $25.00. At first, I thought that if it had been a perfume I would have thought it was a steal, but a mist wears off quickly, so the bottle would not have lasted me long. However, I was wrong. This mist actually lasts a very long time, and I just love the scent. It is on the cusp of being overly-floral, but if you love those kinds of scents, it's really great. But what makes it a four-season scent is that it has a warm tone to it. The website says it has notes of white musk, sandalwood, vanilla, and peony. For me, the vanilla is the mystery scent that gives the perfume the warmth that makes it great to transition from summer to fall. You can find this lovely fragrance from Victoria's Secret here.

The final of the three scents is from good old Bath and Body Works. For a long time, this scent was one of my favorites because it, like the Victoria's Secret Fragrance, is sweet yet has a warm tone to it. Plus, it is about half the price at $14.00. The website claims it has notes of orange, vanilla orchid, and anjou pear, which by now you may have inferred are some of my favorite smells. If you would like a scent with similar notes to the ones I have mentioned but with a smaller price tag, you may be pleased with this body mist. I do prefer a perfume, just because I think it is better value for money than a body mist. However, this spray is on its way to being gone, and I think I might just have to buy another one! You can find this lovely body mist here.

I have millions of scents, but some of my favorites are the ones that can be worn throughout the year. I think one of these may become my signature scents. Hmm? I hope you found a swish smell that interests you and fits your price tag too!

What scents have you been loving? And would you like to see a top 5 favorite scents?

wish, wish, want || Ebay

Hello There!

Today I thought I would share some more of my current favorites from Ebay, which include a seller that is great! I just love Ebay. It's a great place to find trendy pieces for awesome prices. I have never been one to spend a lot of money on trends, and my rule is that if it's cheap and it works, then great, and if it doesn't, then you didn't spend a lot of money on it. Here are some trendy pieces I love and some nail polish too!

There are lots of geometric necklaces out there, but I love this necklace because it's simple and nice for people who don't want a bold statement necklace but something chic. Plus, it's inexpensive too! This beaute will only cost you about $2.00! I think it will work really well with studs, another trend that will be huge this fall.

 This next piece is something that is definitely a new trend. I love the rose gold color; it's not a cheap rose gold, so it looks a bit more expensive than the $3.00 you will pay for it! Also, it can easily make any hair do look more sophisticated. It comes in three metallic tones, so for the price, you can get them all! One downside to this hair cuff would be that the hair tie might snap or wear out, and then what would you do? Otherwise it's a great piece that comes in many different designs, and I think it will make second day hair look instantly chic!

I love this seller because they sell the infamous J Crew bauble necklace. While the necklace form J Crew will cost you 150 of your American dollars, this knockoff on Ebay will only set you back about $10.00! What a steal! While these necklaces were really popular during the summer, I think some of the colors will transition really well into fall and winter. Maybe mix them with a chunky sweater and boots? That sounds like fall to me!

My final favorite is a seller on Ebay that I think is just fantastic! This seller sells nail polish, but what I love most is how professional they are. The prices are all reasonable, and I love that they show multiple photos and swatches on nail wheels. Plus, they have a variety of colors, some that are permanent shades and some that have been discontinued for a while. Some sellers take photos in bad lighting and don't show swatches, so buying the polishes is a bit of a risk. I love that these photos were taken in natural light, and they give all the details about the polish- color, finish, etc. One thing to note is that they do open the bottle to swatch the polish, but that doesn't worry me. Overall, this seller is great and I will defiantly be purchasing polish form them in the future.

If you haven't checked out Ebay, or if you just came out from under a rock, I would recommend it. If you are looking for something specific, I think the more specific you search the more likely you will be to find what you are looking for. Sure, you may have to sift through some junk, but in the end I find there are some real gems out there.

What are some of your favorite Ebay steals?

Back To School Beauty|| Hair

Hello There!

Today as the final installment of my themed blog week, "Back To School Beauty," I thought I would talk about 5 hair products that every girl should have. Even if you are not a "hair" person, these products can change the look of your hair. Plus, these products are really inexpensive.

Hairspray::

There are so many different kinds of hairsprays with all different price points, and they can give you volume, texture, or extra hold. Some of my favorites are:

Halsa Maximum Hold:

This is a fantastic hairspray, and only .99 cents! There are lots of different hairsprays in this line, but this is the most maximum hold of them all. It has a strong hold, but surprisingly it isn't sticky. I would recommend this for people who are doing shows or performances, or who need super strong hold. With this hairspray, your hair will not move. Also, the smell is fruity, but sort of a sickly fruity, so if I were to buy this product again I would pick up the unscented version. Overall, I think this is a great value-for-money product that will really hold your hair.

John Frieda frizz-ease:

I really like this product because it will hold your hair and hold down and wisps you might have. I have a lot, and sometimes I feel like nothing will hold them down. So if you have the same issue and want a hairspray that isn't "extreme hold" this might be your product. One flaw I have found that the nozzle is more of a jet and less of a mist. Otherwise, I find it's really nice.

Pantene Pro-V Style Texture:

This ultra hold texturizing hairspray will give you insane volume. I use this in my roots when I want more volume to work with and it works a dream. I will say that I remember this product being a bit more expensive, but I think it is worth it. It will give both hold and texture, so I think it would be a good product to use for a night out or to a school dance. One thing to keep in mind is that the more texturizing the product, the stickier it will be. While it is a bit sticky, I can get over it because what it does to my hair is fantastic. Well done Pantene!

Hair Gel::

Hair gel can really slick back your hair and hold it in place. While I use hairspray on a more regular basis, I will use gel for shows or two hold back stray hairs. Some that I love are:

Herbal Essences Set Me Up:

Not only does this have an amazing scent, but it's a little watery, so it holds your hair without getting thick. I run this through damp hair and then let it dry before styling it, and I find it really helps keeps my style looking new for longer. Plus, a little but goes a long way.

Queen Helene Super Hold- Alcohol Free:

This gel is thick, but not too thick that it clumps your hair together. Also, it doesn't get crunchy because it's alcohol free. It will really hold your hair, which is why I prefer this gel for shows. Also, this is great value for money! I got this gel at Sally's for around the $5.00 mark. What a bargain!

Detangling Spray::

You could buy an expensive detangling spray, or one that is a leave-in conditioner and detangling spray in one, but I would rather spend my money on a styling creme, or a pretty nail polish. Here's one that does the trick:

Suave Kids:

Not only does this product help detangle my hair, but it also smells amazing! I love the citus-y apple scent. It's not that I think this is the best product in the world, but I have tried a few detangling sprays and I don't see a huge difference. Plus, it's less than $5.00!

Glossing Polish::

Glossing Polish can change a person's hair. It makes my hair smooth and silky, and I just love it. I have tried a few different kinds, but this one is great value for money and works just as well as the most expensive brands. This one is my all-time favorite:

Silk Elements Mega Silk:

This serum is amazing. If Moroccan oil or Argon oil is not in your price range, this glossing polish is only $6.00 from Sally's and it works just as well as any of the higher end items. You can apply this to damp or dry hair, and it helps give shine and dimension to dull hair. I use this from the ears down so it doesn't clog my roots, but if you had dry, brittle hair I would recommend applying this all over to make your hair smooth to help constitute for the lack of moisture.

Shine Spray::

Shine spray change change the look of your hair, and make it look a whole lot less dull. This product is a rediscovery for me, and I just love it:

Smooth Shine Instant repair Spray-On Polisher:

This is more of a dry mist that will really apply shine to all hair types. There are lots expensive shine sprays, but this is an inexpensive alternative. There is not a whole lot to this product, but I like what it does. Spray this on your hair for instant shine that does not look greasy and lasts all day.

If you want a splurge, try a styling creme::

Styling cremes can get a bit pricey, but I think they are worth the splurge. Here is a great option:

KMS Hair Play Configure Creme:

This product is a bit pricey, coming in at $30.00. It really is fantastic, though. It holds down stray hairs without having the crunch of hairspray. It's basically a grease, so I don't put it near my roots, but a little bit goes a very long way. I have had this creme for years, and I still have quite a bit left. Plus, it has a really nice smell that I can't describe; it's slightly herbal. I really like this item, and if there was one "hair" splurge I would recommend, it would be this one.

These products can really change the look of your hair, and they are so affordable you can collect them all! If you don't have the budget to be frivolous with your hair purchases, these are some great alternatives.

It was really relaxing taking photos this morning! I loved the lighting too.

What are your go-to hair products?

Hello There!

Today is a quote that is very special to me. I get stressed very easily, and I have found over time that the only things that calm me down are painting my nails, Daily Grace, and this quote.

Whenever I am in a pickle, or feeling stressed about an exam these are my words to live by:

I love this quote, and think it is something everyone should keep in mind. Life can get difficult and stressful, and sometimes the problems seem never-ending, but for me coming back to this quote brings me back to the reality that not everything is a big deal, and it focuses me on my main goals. My dreams of college and a good job are not going to be affected by a quiz, a homework assignment, or what I wear. This is not to say one should not try in life, but I am personally an overachiever and a perfectionist, so there is no chance of me not trying. Lots of people have philosophies in life, and this is one of mine.

You can find the book that this quote originated from here. I own it and I think it is fantastic.

What are some quotes you live by?
